BARTLETT, TN (abc24.com) - A dispute over grass clippings landed a Bartlett man in court for reportedly assaulting a woman with a leaf blower.
Michael Bridgewater, 33, is facing charges for the July 5 incident.
According to the affidavit, Bridgewater was cleaning the parking lot at the Hollywood Cinema when he was approached by two women who wanted to know why he blew grass clippings all over their vehicles. While they were talking, one of the women told officers that Bridgewater blasted the leaf blower directly at her and blew debris in her face.
When officers spoke with Bridgewater, he admitted to blowing debris on their vehicles but denied blasting the woman with his leaf blower. He said the woman told him to wash her car and he refused, pointing her towards the theater to talk to a supervisor. He told police he blew the debris off of the vehicles and the woman returned, still yelling at him, so he walked away.
Bartlett police explained to the woman why Bridgewater was not taken into custody, and she said she would follow up and press charges; officers also noted there were no visible marks or injuries on the woman at the time of the report, the document states.
At an August 27 court hearing, the victim stated she sought medical attention for respiratory problems following the incident with Bridgewater.
The case has been turned over to a grand jury.
