Blu Restaurant to Reopen under Court-Ordered Conditions

A restaurant in southeast Shelby County recently shut down as a public nuisance will be allowed to reopen, so long as they comply with certain conditions ordered by the District Attorney's Office.
MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - A restaurant in southeast Shelby County recently shut down as a public nuisance will be allowed to reopen, so long as they comply with certain conditions ordered by the District Attorney's Office.

Blu Restaurant and Bar, located at 3895 Hacks Cross, was shut down on Tuesday, March 26 after un investigation uncovered employees selling drugs at the bar. According to the D.A.'s Office, law enforcement had responded to at least 74 incidents at the business since January 2012.

The restaurant's owner, John Edwards with MPJ Investments, LLC, agreed to certain court-ordered conditions to reopen in order to avoid prosecution. Those conditions include paying a $1,000 fine, permanently banning certain former employees from the business property, and increasing security both inside the restaurant and around the parking lot.

The restaurant will be allowed to reopen on Wednesday, April 3, and "Club Blu" will reopen on Friday, April 12.
