SOUTHAVEN, MS (abc24.com) - Candidates are already filing paperwork to try to take the place of Southaven Mayor Greg Davis. Wednesday was the first day of filing for municipal elections in Desoto County.

So far two men have filed to run for mayor, but not Davis; however, he has indicated before that he will seek a fifth term as mayor.

A few weeks ago he was indicted on felony charges of embezzlement. He was a no show at Wednesday night's aldermen meeting, but board members say if he does run again, it will likely be a close race.

"He has a lot of support in the city today, there are people that will tell you, 'I will sign the ballot and vote for him,'" said Lorine Cady, Mayor Pro Tem. "None of us can truly predict an election so I can't tell you what will happen. But he does have a lot of support."

The filing deadline is March 8th.

The arrogance/audacity is no longer surprising. (I wonder what "his" gerbils platform will be....)
