MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - It was a living nightmare for a Frayser mom, her baby daughter and her niece. One minute early Sunday morning they were fast asleep. The next, a car was on top of them.

"The whole car was on top of my bed. We was underneath the car," said Sharnique Ambrose. "It was just like a loud boom. That's all you heard was a boom."

"I was just scared, I didn't know what to do. I didn't even know what was happening, like, I didn't know something like that could happen," said 9-year-old JeShauna Castle.

Castle was sleeping on the floor, while Ambrose and her 2-year-old daughter were in their bed, when the car crashed into their apartment on the 2900 block of Shady Vista early Sunday morning.

"I really thought it was an earthquake. But when I was asleep, I opened my eyes like this, but I could hardly see the car," Castle said.

Inside the apartment, damage was everywhere. Broken glass littered the carpet, and there were pieces of a car's taillight.

Witnesses said a man and a woman were arguing outside, when the woman got into a black Toyota and rammed into the apartment in reverse. She then took off in the car.

"I really feel terrified because I don't know if it will happen again, what's going to happen," Castle said.

Ambrose said the apartment manger told her the complex is full. She's afraid to leave, because she's worried someone may come and ply off the board that is in place of her wall and window.

"You can still see sun, breeze coming up here and everything. If somebody was a smart crook or something, they could pull that right on up," Ambrose said.

Through it all, Ambrose is thankful.

"I am just thankful, and blessed, underneath the car, it's just crazy," she said.
