Cohen Announces UT Health Science Center Funding For Research Projects

Congressman Steve Cohen announced Thursday that the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis has been awarded a total of $885,004 in funding for two important research projects.
MEMPHIS, TN (localmemphis.com) - Congressman Steve Cohen announced Thursday that the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis has been awarded a total of $885,004 in funding for two important research projects.

These grants come from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

“These funds will help continue the important work being done by the skilled researchers at the UT Health Science Center in Memphis,” said Congressman Cohen.

The University of Tennessee Health Science Center will receive $528,004 from HHS’ National Institute on Aging to investigate translational systems genetics of mitochondria, metabolism, and aging.

The Health Science Center in Memphis was also awarded $357,000 under today’s announcement from HHS’ National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute for heart and vascular diseases research.
