GERMANTOWN, TN (abc24.com) - A Collierville High School teacher was arrested in Germantown after a domestic assault and standoff with police Thursday night.

Germantown Police were called to the 2300-block of Windy Oaks Drive just after 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 6. When they arrived officers found a woman outside the home with multiple injuries inflicted by a knife sharpening steel. She was transported to The MED where she was last reported in serious condition.

The victim's husband, Michael Corey Halliburton, remained inside with all of the lights turned off in the house. Negotiators spoke with Halliburton and he was taken into custody without incident.

Michael Halliburton was charged with Aggravated Assault and booked at Germantown City Jail. He has been a teacher at Collierville High School for 15 years, where he teaches German and Art History. The Shelby County Schools district would not comment on Halliburton's employment in light of his arrest.
