You have to realize WHAT the 'common denominator' IS; THEN you can understand it. And: "ZachX", they don't WANT qualified appicants; they want obedient lap-dogs, which is WHY we are in the shape we are in with "law" enforcement, & the sheer number of corrupt cops (costume, not uniform, wearers). It would be FAR easier to tally the NON corrupt.

Quality people will expect quality pay, why get all the requirements just to come here? Low pay, no support from a hostile city goverment, poor benefits, no promotion system, salary and benefit cuts, open attacks on pensions, no college incentive, forced to live under a residency requirement, Officer morale is horrible. No, I am sure that the quality people are lining up to get applications. The city's response to morale issues, "Unhappy? Shut up and just be glad you have a job."

I applied for employment with MPD three years ago. I have a four year degree, I'm fluent in Spanish, I hit the weight room six days a week, and I was on my high school track team. I also don't do drugs and have no mental or emotional issues. I never heard from them. I called several times, and received messages saying that "they'll call me if they're interested in the next step." I'm sure that my application is in a slush fund and was never seen by anybody, like thousands of other qualified candidates. This is why the department is in the shape it is.
