BARTLETT, TN (localmemphis.com) - Some Bartlett residents had a late night. Bartlett's "Fireworks Extravaganza" was delayed.

According to a Facebook post on the Bartlett Police Department's website, a problem arose with the computer that controlled the firework display. The show was intended to start when the sun went down around 9 pm, but folks had to wait around for about an hour for the problem to be fixed.

When the firework show did start, residents say the wait was worth it.

"I didn't hear anything. I had me and my family and another family out there, and we thought, man, there's no way they're not going to have them, so we'll just stay and wait," said Bartlett resident Justin Wilkerson.

Wilkerson is a dedicated fan of Bartlett's "Fireworks Extravaganza." When problems arose with a jam with the computer that controlled the fireworks display he didn't even think about leaving.

"Everybody started leaving. We were looking around and it was real busy, and everybody started leaving and ten minutes after that they started. It was awesome," said Wilkerson.

A few miles away Joe Willis noticed his internet went down. That was no coincidence. The problem with the computer controlling the firework show affected area residents' wireless internet.

"I heard some fireworks, but I thought it was thundering at first," said Willis.

All in all the show was a hit for those that stuck around, a perfect way to celebrate the 4th of July.

"It was definitely worth the wait," said Wilkerson.

The event also included moon bounces and face painting for the kids.
