County Mayor Withholds Funding of Cash for Tires Program

The popular "Cash for Tires" program will still happen but with less funding. The city of Memphis already chipped in its portion of the deal: $50,000 plus labor. Shelby County is only supplying labor, even though commissioners say the county can afford the $50,000.

Why not take the INMATE labor along with a trailer and have them go to the places that the CITIZENS report and clean these areas up whereever they may be in the city...... NO $$$$ handed out for these and cost very minimal......BUT then extra vigilance would be necessary from everyone because the tires being HOARDED by the users would be illegally dumped

This is a silly, misguided program that tries to convince that the carrot is so far more effective than the stick that we should bribe criminals not to break the law. Another piece of brainwashing perpetrated on Mulroy that he wants to pass on to the rest of us, who have to pay for his stupidity.

The problem with 'tires for cash' is that they may be YOUR tires that get turned in!
