CrimeStoppers Tips Lead to Murder Arrest

Numerous tips to CrimeStoppers helped Memphis police arrest a suspect in a deadly hit & run homicide Sunday night.
MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - Numerous tips to CrimeStoppers helped Memphis police arrest a suspect in a deadly hit & run homicide Sunday night.

Officers were called to a shooting on the 3700-block of Philwood just before 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 14. When they arrived, they found the victim, 34-year-old David Williams, had been run over by a car and was lying in the street with serious injuries. Williams was transported to The MED in extremely critical condition, and died the following day.

Investigators say Williams was running from someone in a white vehicle, and was intentionally run over; the incident reportedly stemmed from a previous altercation at a gas station located as Summer Ave and Highland St.

After video surveillance of the vehicle was released to the media, police received several tips which led to the arrest of Levie Roberts.

Roberts, 19, was arrested and charged with Second Degree Murder. He is currently being held at the Shelby County Jail on a $1 million bond.
