MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - Shelby County Sheriff's deputies have made four arrests in two separate home burglaries in the Northaven area.
Responding to a burglary call on Friday, July 27 around 10 a.m. on the 5300-block of Breckenwood, deputies detained two suspects after a witness saw them in a drainage ditch with three flat screen TV's. 19-year-old Tevin Sykes and a 14-year-old male juvenile were apprehended, and a search uncovered bottles of prescription drugs from the burglary victim's address.
A short time earlier, a citizen advised officers of a suspicious red Ford Astro speeding from the area. Deputies located and stopped the van at Hwy 51 and Watkins. A search of the van revealed plumbing fixtures and copper from air conditioning units.
The driver of the van, 30-year-old George Gilliam, had a suspended license and the passenger, 27-year-old Dominik Crowder, had an active warrant for his arrest. Deputies discovered that these two were responsible for another burglary on the 5300-block of Bitter Creek at a vacant residence.
The 14-year old juvenile was charged with Aggravated Burglary. Sykes was charged with Aggravated Burglary, Theft of Property and Evading Arrest.
Gilliam was charged with Aggravated Burglary, Theft of Property over $500 dollars and Driving with Suspended License. Crowder was charged with Aggravated Burglary and Theft of Property over $500 dollars.
These two burglaries were NOT related other than occurring at the same time.
