MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - New details are coming out about the relationship between murdered Ridgeway High School basketball coach Jimmy McClain and his wife. It was a relationship that at times was volatile, and included a number of calls to 911.

Over the last five years, Shelby County Sheriff's deputies were called to the home of Jimmy and Carla McClain several times. Each time was the result of an altercation between the two.

Around 3 p.m. on February 9, 2008, deputies responded to a 911 hang up call at Jimmy McClain's Cordova home. McClain's wife, Carla, told investigators the two were arguing and things intensified after she told McClain she wanted a divorce. Nothing physical happened. McClain voluntarily agreed to the leave until tempers calmed down.

In December that same year, deputies were back at the McClain's home. Carla said her husband took a fireplace poker and smashed the glass out of the back door during an argument over money. Jimmy McClain once again agreed to leave. No arrests were made.

In August of 2011, Mrs. McClain filed an intimidation complaint against her husband. According to Carla, during a phone conversation she asked Jimmy to sign divorce papers. She said his response was, "The only way I will get a divorce is someone has to die."

That same month, it was Jimmy calling 911. He told detectives he received a call from Carla McClain's brother. He told police his brother-in-law told him if he ever goes to Carla's apartment again, "You won't live long."

McClain was shot to death inside his home February 22. His stepson, 19-year-old Dwayne Moore, has been charged in his murder. Moore is being held at the Shelby County Jail on a $2 million bond.

Shelby County Sheriff's investigators won't say what they think led to the shooting death of Jimmy McClain, but deny his rocky marriage was a factor.

"We're not going to go there with that, with the domestic violence," stated Lt. Kevin Helms. "We don't have any history of that."

None of the reported incidents between Jimmy McClain and his wife involved Moore.
