WEST MEMPHIS, AR (abc24.com) - Arkansas residents will soon vote on legalizing marijuana for medical use. It's called Issue 5 and it's causing issues for both those for and against it.
Cannabis can create comfort for patients suffering from painful health conditions. That's what some doctors in West Memphis claim and they're putting their support behind the use of medical marijuana.
Dr. Jesse Bradley is one of those doctors. "There are a lot of people out there in America that can benefit from medical marijuana; you have cancer patients with chemo, aids patients that can all benefit."
He says medical marijuana can help patients "ease that pain a little bit, give them more comfort especially with patients that are suffering from chronic illnesses like cancer."
Although Dr. Bradley supports legalizing medical marijuana in Arkansas, he admits initially he had his concerns.
"After reading about it and understanding where they want to go with this, I think it's going to be a safe thing," he said. "It should generate some income for the state of Arkansas and help us be able to improve conditions around here, especially with the schools and roads and stuff like that."
Arkansans will vote on the issue November 6th.
