Well instead of funding this kill shelter maybe someone should offer free and mandatory spay and neutering. Instead of feeding and killing the problems stop them from becoming problems. Get a truck and drive around these neighborhoods and get the job done. Charge those who do not want it done two hundred dollars (on the spot)an animal for a license to breed , They will change their minds quickly! This will cut down on unwanted animals drastically. As for this free services offer it to some people as well.

For another thing to those who say that if they had kept their dogs in check it would never have happened. Well let me tell you something, it can happen and not be from negligence. I have a beautiful little yorkie and a couple years ago, he got out of a fenced yard and took off. Thank the lord for a kind woman and her son who found him and brought him home as he had a tag with our name, address, phone numbers and his name on it. Now he got out of the yard how??? Well an idiot UPS man came into the wrong gate (ours)dumped the package just inside the gate instead of coming up to our door and leftthe gate open when he left. We cannot see the gate from our back door and since we were not expecting anything were also not expecting the gate to be wide open. Not all pet owners are careless, etc. On top of that, I don't care how the dogs got out, the system is set up supposedly so that pet owners who do have their dogs get away from home have opportunity to get them back, not find out they have been euthanized immediately.

I thought they had the shelter mess cleared up, but obviously they still have a bunch or morons working there. They need a checks and balance system where things are checked and rechecked before they euthanize an animal. Though it won't bring their dog back, the city would be buying me another, that's for sure. Wowee, return their fine, that sure makes it ok! Disgusting!!!!

Memphis is like Africa in the way they treat canines and felines. However, Africans are hard working and not filled with irrational fears, like water. These spoiled, materialistic idiots around Memphis wouldn't last 5 minutes in Africa.

These people are sickening; they are out and about like normal citizens, but they have less compassion than used car salesmen...

every single genetic mutant who works at this shelter should be fired and that includes volunteers who are anything like the paid assassins who work there! If you don't care about the animals and are just there for the paycheck and or suffering from compassion fatigue, GET THE HELL OUT AND STAY OUT!

LadyJ, perhaps you should grow a heart. Americans love their pets. They are not just animals. They are members of our families. Yes, I realize that Memphis is not really America - it's more like Africa. But still, don't mess with our dogs.

These things do not happen at the city homeless shelter. Oh, yeah, there is no city funded shelter for homeless humans. If you want your dogs keep them in your yards not out pooping in your neighbor's yard.

If these people would properly contain there dogs, none of this would happen.
