On Friday, December 28th Animal Control Officers responded to an anonymous call regarding a dog that had been left outside for up to a month without food, water, or shelter at residence in the 2700 block of Jolson Avenue. The officer observed the dog to be a two on the Purina scale with its tailbone and ribs showing. The Purina scale is a one to ten scale with one being the worst.

Memphis Police Department officers were dispatched and they also confirmed that food, shelter, and water were not made available to the dog. MPD officers took into account the recent low temperatures at night that have been in the upper 20s and lower 30s.
