MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - A Memphis woman "in a rush" was arrested after she hit a school crossing guard directing traffic outside an elementary school.

The incident occurred on January 2 near Oak Forrest Elementary School. According to the police affidavit, the guard said he was directing traffic when a vehicle approached him at a high rate of speed. When he stopped the car and told the driver to wait her turn, she replied, "I'm in a rush." As he turned to continue directing traffic, the driver continued past him, hitting him in his leg. He added the driver then cursed at several faculty members before speeding away from the scene.

The guard later identified 21-year-old Jessica Dorsey from a photo line-up as the driver of the car that hit him. Dorsey was arrested and charged with Vehicular Assault. She was booked at the Shelby County Jail and has since been released on a $1,000 bond.
