MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP, abc24.com) - A teenage driver whose truck crashed, killing a 14-year-old passenger, has been indicted on criminal charges in Shelby County.

Christopher Minton is charged with vehicular homicide and aggravated assault, according to The Commercial Appeal, quoting a spokesman for the Shelby County District Attorney's Office.

Minton, who is 19 years old, is free on his own recognizance and it wasn't clear whether he had an attorney.

Rachel Lutrell, who was a freshman at Bolton High School, was killed Nov. 9 when Minton's truck ran off a road and struck a tree in Lakeland.

Minton and two other passengers were injured.

Investigators said Minton's blood-alcohol level was 0.07. While the presumed level of intoxication for adults is 0.08, the level for anyone under 21 is 0.02.

can't feel sorry for this boy. too young to be drinkin, too young to be driving. took this girls life and now he's losing his own. every action has a consequence, and sometimes people die because of a reckless choice you make. now you have to pay for it.
