MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - Memphis police are looking for the driver of a white SUV involved in an accident that left one man dead.

Officers were called to a single-car accident on Elvis Presley Blvd just north of the Tennessee-Mississippi state line around 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 8. Police say the 70-year-old driver looked away from the road and hit a utility pole, which knocked power lines across the road.

As two witnesses went to help the driver a white SUV drove through the power lines, causing the lines to snap and hit both men. One witness, 63-year-old Larry Patton, later died at Baptist DeSoto Hospital. The other witness was transported to The MED in critical condition.

Photos of the white SUV were taken from nearby surveillance cameras. Anyone with information on this accident is urged to call MPD Sgt. Joyner with Special Traffic Investigations at (901) 636-4666.
