DRUMMONDS, TN (abc24.com) - The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has charged a Tipton County man with his wife's shooting death.

Tipton Co. Sheriff's deputies were called to check a home in Drummonds on Friday, January 25. When they arrived on the scene, deputies found 32-year-old Shannon Hatchel on the couch with a fatal gunshot wound.

The TBI was called in to assist in the investigation. The victim's husband, 40-year-old Richard Hatchel, was later arrested. He told investigators he had gotten into an argument with his wife when he got his rifle and shot her. A 5-year-old child was also present, but was not harmed.

Richard Hatchel is charged with First Degree Murder and Reckless Endangerment. He is being held at the Tipton County Jail without bond and is scheduled to appear in court on January 29.
