MEMPHIS, TN (localmemphis.com) - An inmate who walked away from work detail in east Memphis was caught a day later trying to jump out of an apartment window to avoid going back to jail.

Daniel Webster, 26, was doing landscaping work at Lichterman Nature Center with two other inmates when he was reported missing from the site around 12:40 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2.

Deputies with the Shelby County Sheriff's Fugitive Apprehension Team, along with officers from several law enforcement agencies, located Webster at an apartment complex on the 1500-block of Parkway View Circle off South Parkway on Wednesday.

As officers approached, Webster kicked out a window from the third story in an attempt to jump, but he was brought back inside and taken back into custody without incident.

Webster was serving a 4-year sentence for theft and vandalism, but will face additional charges for his escape.
