Father Charged with Murder of Boy Found in Dumpster

The father of a 3-year-old boy whose body was found in a dumpster has been charged with his son's murder.
MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - The father of a 3-year-old boy whose body was found in a dumpster has been charged with his son's murder.

28-year-old Maurice Brown, Sr. is charged with First Degree Murder for the death of Maurice Brown, Jr.

According to police, Brown said he was asleep when his son went missing on Sunday, July 2. Monday was a frantic day of searching for the toddler that lead to nothing except Maurice Brown, Sr., behind bars, charged with Aggravated Child Neglect or Endangerment. A gory affidavit reports pools of blood found inside the father's apartment on Pauline. Police found the little boy's body in a downtown dumpster on Tuesday during a systematic grid search.

Charges against Brown, Sr. were upgraded Friday. He was also charged with Resisting Arrest. He is being held without bond at the Shelby County Jail and is scheduled to appear in court July 9.

Memorial services for Maurice Brown, Jr. will be Saturday, July 7 at Progressive Missionary Baptist Church located at 394 Vance Avenue. Visitation begins at 11 a.m. followed by the homegoing celebration at 1 p.m. Memorial and burial services were donated by R. S. Lewis Funeral Home.
