Former NFL Player Requests Diversion in Test Scam

A former NFL star indicted in a test-taking ring involving Mid-South teachers is requesting diversion.
MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - A former NFL star indicted in a test-taking ring involving Mid-South teachers is requesting diversion.

Cedric Wilson is accused of letting other people take his physical education teaching exams in an effort to get hired by Memphis City Schools.

The former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver was indicted in October on charges of Wire and Social Security Fraud and Conspiracy.

Wilson appeared before a U.S. District Judge in Memphis on Friday to request court-approved diversion. If it's approved and completed, the charges will be dismissed and removed from his record.

Prosecutors say Wilson was part of a testing fraud ring that involved teachers in Arkansas, Mississippi and Tennessee.
