MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - In his 19 years, Aaron Vasquez touched a lot of lives. That much is evident in the more than 100 friends who joined Vasquez's family and loved ones for a candlelight vigil in his honor on Friday night.

"I really hope that what people take from this is life is too short, you just got to be the type of guy Aaron was," said Alex Dowty, a longtime friend.

Vasquez was murdered last Saturday, attacked as he was taking out the trash after a long shift at El Toro Loco on Kirby near Quince. For days, investigators searched for his killer.

On Friday, police showed up at the HoneyBaked Ham on Winchester. Employees say when investigators walked in, a co-worker took off running. The man was eventually arrested in a neighborhood nearby.

"We just seen him running, then them chasing him across there," one witness said.

Memphis Police have not released the identity of the man arrested, or information on when he might officially be charged. Multiple sources say the man is a suspect in Vasquez's murder, and that the murder weapon was recovered at the restaurant.

Back in Cordova, friends tried not to get emotional, choosing to remember Vasquez as a fun-loving guy.

Vasquez's parents were embraced with hugs.

"This has been a tragedy that they could have just never imagined ever happening to them, and they are going through the grieving process," said Patti Radcliff, a longtime family friend.
