Grizzlies Fans to Rally This Weekend to Support Coach Hollins

Support is building to keep Grizzlies Head Coach Lionel Hollins in Memphis.
MEMPHIS, TN (localmemphis.com) - Support is building to keep Grizzlies Head Coach Lionel Hollins in Memphis. People are hitting social media to plan a big rally this weekend to try and show Grizz management that fans want Hollins to stay put.

"We got to do something to show the ownership team that we want to keep our coach. This is our city, this is our time, this is our coach. We need to get behind him," said Daniel Dewitt.

What better way to get behind Coach Lionel Hollins than a good old-fashioned pep rally.

"We're going to have signs, megaphones, and some people are bringing their instruments. It's sort of like a pep rally for Lionel to show him we love him," said Dewitt.

Dewitt started talking with the creator of the Facebook page "Fans for Grizzlies Coach Lionel Hollins." They came up with a pep rally this Saturday at Tom Lee Park.

The 700 plus Facebook fans love the idea and the message is simple: "We love our coach, we love our team, and if they want to keep the momentum going and the energy base that they had this year they ought to let him stick around," said Dewitt.

Fans couldn't agree more.

"He's like number 3 top coach in the league and I mean he built the Grizzlies from nothing," said a Memphis resident Maricus Cobbins.

Everyone we spoke with not only wants the coach to stay with the Grizzlies, but they're showing lots of love.

"Bottom line, he's a good coach and we need to keep him here," said another Hollins fan, Steve Dotson.

Maybe with a little hope and with a little luck Coach Hollins will stay.

"I'm crossing my fingers that we keep him," said Dotson.

Saturday's rally at Tom Lee Park in downtown Memphis starts at 3:30 p.m.
