MEMPHIS, TN (localmemphis.com) - Your Memphis Grizzlies are tipping off the season.

The team is coming off the best season in franchise history. The first order of business was to meet the media Monday.

The last time we saw the grizzlies they were walking off the FedExForum court after being bounced from the western conference finals. The way they lost didn't sit well with them. Many of the Grizzlies are glad the first day of a new season is finally here.

Tony Allen had a pretty good offseason. He got married, signed a new four year $20 million contract. But despite all his good fortune, Allen couldn't forget how badly last season ended for the grizzlies.

"Obviously nobody felt good about losing 4-0," Allen said. "It left a bad taste in our mouth. We want to regroup from that."

Zach Randolph couldn't forget either.

"Where we got is far, but we didn't get to where we want and that's a championship," Randolph said.

The Grizzlies want to be better than last year.

Getting better starts today for Allen, Zach Randolph and the rest of the Grizzlies with the kick off of training camp.

"We're really excited not only for the season but we got a new group of guys. Kosta, Mike, Nick. We feel like this is the team that can do something special," Grizzlies player Zach Randolph said.

They also have a new head coach. Dave Joerger, who was an assistant last season, is now the man in the first chair.

"We feel like we have talent. We feel like we're a tough team. We're a tough out. We'll play you hard every single night. And play with passion,” Joerger said.
