MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - A victory for the Grizzlies means big bucks for the Bluff City: more tourists come to the Grindhouse to watch the games, downtown restaurants are cashing in on people celebrating, and it puts the Memphis in the national spotlight.

"I'm a big Grizzlies fan,” said St. Louis resident Michael Rhimes.

"Now everybody is giving that respect,” added Grizzlies fan William Dickey.

"We're a basketball city. Go Memphis!” cheered another Grizzlies fan, Kursandral Mcvey.

Some downtown restaurants have seen at least a 10-percent increase in sales compared to the last Grizzlies season.

"When we win people tend to come out and celebrate after the game a little bit more,” said Kooky Canuck General Manager Terry Trim.

Longtime Grizzlies fan and Army veteran William Dickey remembers the beginning of the franchise.

"I was here when they broke ground at FedEx Forum. I got the dirt in my China cabinet and now here we are at the Western Conference Championship,” said Dickey.

He's seen the team "grow up" and couldn't be prouder.

"I know we're down 3 and 0 but I'm not going to give up on the Grizzlies, we're going to make history,” he said.

People from all over the country have witnessed this history. Tourists are starting to know Memphis not only for its barbecue and for Graceland, but for basketball too.
