MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - A Memphis Grizzly known for helping the less fortunate pay their utility bills is once again opening his wallet. This time, he's helping dogs.
Zach Randolph is paying to rehabilitate a dog, recently rescued from a drainage pipe in High Point Terrace near the Greenline.
"Little Z-Bo" the pit bull is going to recover at Villa Lobos Rescue Center in New Orleans. Randolph is donating $10,000 to the group, which bills itself as the largest pit bull shelter in the country.
"Little Z-Bo" was trapped in the pipe for 2 to 3 days. Randolph says the dog is a little skittish, but he's doing well.
"I own bully dogs - I own pit bulls, I have a kennel myself and I got a truly deep love for these animals, I wanted to help."
The crew of the Animal Planet show "Pit Bulls and Parolees" was in town today to shoot an episode about Randolph's donation and the rescued pit bull.
