MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - The third re-trail of accused cop-killer Timothy McKinney has resulted in a hung jury.

The jury was unable to reach a unanimous verdict for McKinney, who is accused of fatally shooting Don Williams while the Memphis police officer was working off-duty as a security guard at a Frayser comedy club in 1997.

In 1999, McKinney was convicted of first degree murder and sentenced to death until the Tennessee Court of Criminal Appeals awarded him a new trial in 2010 after ruling that his attorneys failed to investigate the case, prepare for trial or present evidence favorable to McKinney.
