MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - An infant died at the hospital after being thrown from a car in an accident Thursday morning in Frayser.

The one-vehicle accident happened shortly after 9 a.m. on Thursday, October 25 at Baskin Street and Dove Street.

Memphis police say a 4-door Nissan struck a fence and the baby was thrown from her car seat, which was not properly secured. A witness to the crash found the baby unresponsive in the rear floorboard and tried to give her first aid until an ambulance arrived. The baby was transported to Le Bonheur Children's Hospital and pronounced dead.

Police later charged the driver, 24-year-old Atu Campbell, with Reckless Driving, Reckless Homicide, Violation of Child Restraint Laws, Violation of Financial Law and Driving with a Suspended License. He was booked at the Shelby County Jail on $25,000 bond.

2+2=4, but this isn't adding up. A one car accident hitting a fence doesn't seem enough to "throw" an infant from a car! Was the baby in a carseat? Apparently not buckled up. All windows down or what?!?! Just isn't making much sense. Prayers for the family of this sweet baby....hoping charges of reckless homicide(at the least) are to follow.
