Judge Upholds Sale of 19th Century Club

A huge loss for people fighting to save the historic 19th Century Club.
MEMPHIS, TN (localmemphis.com) - A huge loss for people fighting to save the historic 19th Century Club.

A judge upheld the sale today in court.

The building was sold in January.

The new owners want to tear it down.

Those fighting to save the club claim only board members authorized the sale. They say all members had a right to vote.

A judge disagreed, saying the plaintiffs didn't have any standing to pursue the action.

The request for a temporary injunction was denied.

The judge gave those fighting to save the club a 14 day stay to appeal.

If they don't, demolition can resume in two weeks.
