Juvenile in Custody for Christmas Drive-By Killing

MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - According to the Marshall County Sheriff's Department, a 16-year old has been taken into custody in connection with a drive-by shooting on Christmas morning that killed a Memphis teen.

Due to his age, the authorities have not released the juvenile's identity. He is currently being held at a juvenile detention center.

The shooting occurred around 2:30am on Highway 72 near Slayden, Mississippi. Shots were fired at a vehicle with five people inside; three people were injured and 16-year-old Derica Patterson, a junior at Sheffield High School in Memphis, was killed.

31-year-old Corey Albright was arrested and charged with murder and five counts of drive-by shooting. Also wanted is 22-year-old Rico Fleming, aka Rico Pool, who remains at large.
