MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - Memphis City Schools Superintendent Dr. Kriner Cash has pulled his name from the running as one of three finalists to run the Charlotte-Mecklenburg school district in North Carolina.

MCS confirmed that Dr. Cash withdrew his name on April 18. He was one of three finalists with Ann Clark, currently serving as Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Chief Academic Officer, and Reno, Nevada Superintendent Heath Morrison.

At an April 19 press conference, Charlotte-Mecklenberg school officials announced the position would be offered to Heath Morrison.

Cash later released the following statement:

“After thoughtful consideration and the counsel of my family, I made the decision to withdraw my name from the list of finalists. We have made a tremendous amount of progress in Memphis City Schools during the last four years and it is my hope to see our students and staff members continue on an upward trajectory. I congratulate CMS on the selection of their new superintendent and I wish them the best as they move forward. My focus continues to be on the academic achievement of our students as we prepare for the upcoming testing season and the graduation of our 2012 senior class."

Could it be Mr. Cash found he could not bring his hand picked menagerie as he did here in Memphis. What are his actual accomplishments? The school kids are in control of the schools. Suspensions were and are over the top. Bad behavior and bad acts were hidden, this only came out when tv news got involved. The hand picked security staff cars could be seen driving on the streets when no schools were in session, burning gas at an additional cost to tax payers. Now, what will Mr. Cash do?
