Latest Video From MPA Taking On More Than Police Issues

The Memphis Police Association is saying it’s time for more of your involvement.

MEMPHIS, TN (localmemphis.com) - The Memphis Police Association is saying it’s time for more of your involvement.

But they’re not talking about just police issues.

They're talking about more involvement concerning spending money on private business deals and budget troubles.

It sounds a bit like a political campaign ad.

It just might be.

For thirty seconds Memphis Police Associaiton’s Mike Williams stands in front of the Memphis skyline thanking people for their support in restoring the 4.6 percent paycut.

“You've let this city's leadership know that you care about this city,” Williams says. “We definitely want to thank the citizens of this city. We don't think we'd have been able to get the 4.6 back if it hadn't been for the support of the citizens and the businesses in the city of Memphis.”

The ad says the work isn't done...

Williams says what is good for the city is good for the Memphis Police Association. And what is happening in the city right now, in the groups opinion, isn't good.

“Talking about closing down fire stations. The citizens don't like that. They're talking about smart meters at MLGW that the citizens don't want,” Williams said.

Williams says the latest campaign isn't anything new for the Memphis police association.

Their main job is to protect the interests of police.

He says the union has had the “Wake Up Memphis Campaign” going on for a couple of years, and the goal has always been the same.
