MEMPHIS, TN – It’s been a week since former Memphis Grizzlies standout Lorenzen Wright disappeared, and now his ex-wife is praying for answers.
Sherra Wright told Eyewitness News that at first, she believed her ex-husband had simply taken a vacation, but as the days tick by she's not so sure anymore. She was too distraught to talk on camera Monday afternoon, July 26, 2010, but plenty of family and friends have been talking to police.
"Our police have talked to about 100 people that are closely associated with him,” said Mark Heuberger, a spokesman for the Town of Collierville. “Business associates, former coaches, players, people in the sports world. Nothing in those conversations has raised any red flags in terms of anyone believing that anyone was trying to harm him or something like that."
Wright's mother reported him missing last Thursday, July 22, but his father has told Eyewitness News that Lorenzen is on vacation in Europe.
"The only thing I can really confirm is the use of the passport, and that hasn't been used recently,” Heuberger said.
He said police are checking Wright's bank accounts and credit cards for clues too.
“They're still doing due diligence on things like credit cards and things of that nature,” he explained. “We don't have anything to confirm at this time."
Wright said she's waiting to hear more from police, but hoping to hear from Lorenzen first.
