Lorenzen Wright's Mother Seeks Exclusive Private Detectives to Help Solve Murder

After nearly two years since a Memphis basketball legend was found murdered in a field, his mother is seeking outside help to find his killers.
MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - After nearly two years since a Memphis basketball legend was found murdered in a field, his mother is seeking outside help to find his killers.

July 8, 2012 marks two years since former Grizzlies and Tigers star Lorenzen Wright disappeared, his body was found 10 days later. Every day since then his mother, Deborah Marion, has felt the pain of his loss and without answers she says the family can’t move on. "Until the motor falls out of me, until my heart's gone, I'm going to keep working." Marion says, "If I don't work who will?"

When the 34-year-old basketball star's bullet riddled body was found July 2010 it nearly killed his mother as well. "I take medications to wake up," she says, "I take meds to go to sleep, some days I can't function at all."

She began religiously watching mystery shows, 48 Hours, Unsolved Mysteries, Investigation Discovery, and last summer that's what lead to a break. Marion opened up only to abc24.com, "It's called the Vidocq Society, I saw it on one of those shows... they said if you need help and they put the number up and I called and got briefed."

The Vidocq Society is an exclusive secret consortium of 82 experts based in Philadelphia, they only take select cases and Marion says, they have to be two years old. The group of forensic specialists and retired detectives volunteer to help solve the unsolveable, they've agreed to help find Lorenzen Wright's killer. Marion says, "They have solved a 47 year old case, and the next was 25, so I'm believing in them."

A spokesperson with the Memphis Police Department says they have no new leads on the case, and they will gladly take any information the detectives uncover. Marion believes they are the key to her peace, "He was supposed to bury me, not me bury him. I'm not giving up."

Marion will meet with members of the Vidocq Society in Mid-July.

On July 14th Marion will host a candlelight vigil for Lorenzen Wright outside the FedEx Forum at 7:30p.m.
