MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - Police are investigating why live explosives were left at an abandoned strip club in southwest Memphis.

Just before 5 p.m. on Thursday, April 4, officers were called to the 5500-block of S. Third Street, formerly the Tunica Cabaret, after a property inspector found live grenades. The MPD Bomb Squad was called to the scene and removed the grenades.

The club is in a isolated area near the Mississippi border, allowing the bomb squad to work without ordering any evacuations.

The explosives will be detonated at the Shelby County Sheriff's Training Facility.

Tunica Cabaret was closed in December 2006 along with Platinum Plus after a 23-month undercover investigation involving the Memphis Police Department and the FBI.
