MPD Seeks Help In Locating Hit and Run Vehicle

On Sunday, August 18, 2013, at approximately 2:56 a.m., officers responded to a traffic crash involving two pedestrians struck at I-40/ Warford.
MEMPHIS, TN (localmemphis.com) - On Sunday, August 18, 2013, at approximately 2:56 a.m., officers responded to a traffic crash involving two pedestrians struck at I-40/ Warford. Upon arrival on the scene, officers located 34-year-old Jessika Cavazos and 37-year-old Derrick Cross who had been struck by a vehicle at this location. Both victims were pronounced deceased by paramedics on the scene.

The investigation revealed the victims were standing outside of their disabled vehicle, which was parked eastbound I-40 in the north median lane, when they were struck by a vehicle. The responsible vehicle is described as possibly a white, 4-door, Toyota pick-up truck with black or gray around the lower sides and rear. The vehicle was last seen in the area of I-40 and Covington Pike.

The suspected driver of the vehicle is described as either a male White or male Hispanic.

Investigators are asking anyone with information regarding this crash to call CrimeStoppers at 528-CASH.
