I am glad someone in city council is slamming MLGW, We need more slamming of them, They are the worst energy company I have ever seen and heard of. When will memphis have a competative energy company move in and wipe mlgw off the slate. Maybe they will change there attitude and be more caring with people that cant afford to pay there electic bill in the worst conditions. I would say All the Mlgw employees are wanting the hike so they can fill their greedy pockets, One day we will find half of them fired for embezelment and fraud, Time will tell.

Good job with that MLGW issue, so far, Memphis City Council. I just wish you had not approved the one-time bonus for City employees, especially in view of the deficit budget that we face with the new fiscal year. Everyone is on some form of an austerity program, including families!! We will spend virtually all of that found money for a one-time "feel good", when we should have taken the savings and gotten mileage out of it by either paying down debt or placing it in the pension fund, thereby allowing for minimal changes. The person who worked for the City for 8 years will miss out on the recent grandfathering, etc, granted to those who were with the City for ten years. The number of years to become vested seems out of line with most other local government's vesting that requires 5 or 7 years to vest. Bad choices, here all around!! The $650 looks good on paper, but will bump most employees into the next federal tax bracket, and they will really realize very little by your votes!! Same goes for Shelby County; very bad choice there as well, regarding the "bonus"!!
