Memphis Council Battles Park Names as State Bill Looms

Tuesday was a contentious day at Memphis City Hall, all because of a park that's been named after Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest for more than a hundred years.

Tigrenoir... Worst time in America history? I would think erradicating an entire population of human beings was a lil worse than slavery... Unless your just talking about the actual war then if you don't like the south ...move its pretty simple

A history lesson is exactly what that boy, Lowery, needs. Maybe he needs to also file another "discrimination" lawsuit against the city like he did against FedEx,the news channel where he was formerly employed and the college. After all, he needs a Rolex to keep up with the Fords! Sickening. As for Fullilove, she needs to be in an institution where she is not a danger to herself.

Taint, I think that's a valid question, though I think you meant it rhetorically. According to a survey I did on STCC's campus in 2007, many respondents felt pretty strongly one way or another-- so people do care. I won't bother posting the results because I know I'm not changing anybody's mind with that information, just sayin'.

Judas Fullilove has no business in anything other than rehab! Her statements last night were enough to remove any white person from office. Why should she get away with it? The police have been called to her house 85 times since 2005. What a loser!!!

Who gives a flying f*ck what the name of a park is? What a tremendous waste of time and energy.

Sometimes what seems be a good idea turns out to be not so good an idea. To thumb your nose at the state legislators is like biting the hand that feeds you. The help you might of wanted from the state, could now turn on deaf ears. So go ahead City Council and tell us all how you won.

The City Council rarely shows positive leadership. This time they rose up and led Memphis into the 21st century. The Confederacy, Jefferson Davis and Nathan Forrest represented the worst period in American history. They should have no place of honor on public lands. Their statures and plaques should be melted down and scrapped.
