MEMPHIS, TN – A Memphis police officer is in hot water after investigators say he tried to pick up a prostitute.

Jason Webb, 39, was arrested Thursday, accused of patronizing a prostitute and soliciting a minor.

"We know him because he's next door and we work on his vehicle once in awhile and stuff. Always seem like a nice guy. That's pretty much all I know about him. I know that he's a police officer but that's all I know," said Sarah Yarborough.

Yarborough says she was shocked to hear her neighbor, MPD Officer Jason Webb, was arrested and charged with patronizing a prostitute and solicitation of a minor. Our knocks at Webb's door went unanswered. A few minutes later he came out but declined to speak on camera. Off camera, Officer Webb said in 2008 he went through a divorce, turning to drugs and alcohol. This incident happened a year ago and that's when he says he made the wrong decision.

"Not good. Not good. It's really a surprise to me," said Steve Ray.

Webb told us that on one lonely night he called some numbers on a website. A few hours later some girls showed up at his door and he decided not to let them in. The girls got upset and he apologized afterwards, giving them money to leave.

"You lose respect when they don't conform to, what they’re out their policing everyone else for that, they shouldn't be doing it themselves," said Yarborough.
