MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - A Memphis Police officer has been accused of numerous federal drug violations, all while on duty and in uniform.

According to the U.S. Attorney's office, 35-year-old Michael Shane Sinnock is charged with possession and attempted possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute. Investigators stated Sinnock tried to obtain 200 pounds of marijuana on December 14, 2011. Then on Dec. 16, Sinnock was arrested after he arranged to purchase 20 Lortab tablets. Both incidents occurred while he was on duty and in uniform.

"This officer’s actions are a disappointment to not only the Memphis Police Department, but also to the citizens of Memphis. We work hard as a department to represent trust, honor, and integrity. When an officer makes choices such as these, it gives the entire department a black eye," said Memphis Police Director Toney Armstrong. "This in no way should be a reflection on the officers who work hard and diligently to service the citizens of Memphis. I will not tolerate this type of behavior from a member of my department, and we will assist with the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the prosecution of Sinnock."

Officer Sinnock has been with the Memphis Police Department since February 1998.

Well that takes care of Christmas. Bartlett, Germantown, Collierville, Shelby Co. S.O. Millington ? These departments you don't here anything about their officers getting arrested for drugs or trying to knock off someone. There are GOOD officers on the department. The officer that helped delivery the baby, the officers that bought the elderly woman a new refrigerator and more. You can do a hundred good deeds and it takes only ONE thing to tarnish your image. In this case its been one thing after another. The sergeant with the crazy affair, the officer arrested by Nashville Pd with the pot on university campus, Officer that had sex with his own cousin and now this moron with drugs. You would think after hearing other COPS being busted for drugs or protecting drug shippments that they would get the hint. Someone is always a step a head of you no matter how smart you think you. Its bad when you have to POLICE the POLICE !!!!

Another casualty in the immoral, federally unconstitutional, destructive, racist 'war on drugs' (war on the people)....

Way to disgrace your department, your badge, the MPD, & yourself. All of the hard work, sacrifices, and risks that cops in this area take on a daily basis is overshadowed by your selfishness & stupidity!

That boy, Sinnock, has had his mind destroyed by that brain-killing substance, along with his career....
