MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - Memphis police are investigating what led to the death of a 4-year-old child who was injured while playing in his own yard.
Officers responded to reports of a critically injured child at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital around 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 4.
The child's father told investigators his son was playing in their yard on the 2000-block of Pamela Drive in the Frayser area when another child came up and started playing with him. The father said he saw the other child hit his son in the head with a stick a short time later, and called an ambulance when he became unresponsive.
The child died from his injuries on Tuesday, September 11.
