Memphis Police are Investigating Three Early Morning Homicides

Memphis Police are investigating three separate shootings that happened all within hours of each other.
MEMPHIS, TN (localmemphis.com)-Memphis police are investigating four separate shootings that happened all within hours of each other.

Officers responded to a shooting call at 2:34 a.m. on the 2300-block of Silver Cove in South Memphis and found two men with gunshot wounds inside a residence.

An ambulance arrived on the scene and pronounced 66-year-old Jerry Nelson deceased and a 21-year-old man was transported to the Regional Medical Center in critical condition; the name of the wounded man have not been released.

At 3:45 a.m. police arrived to a shooting at McDonald's on the 1300-block of Ridgeway Street finding 21-year-old Tony Woods shot but marked dead on the scene by paramedics.

Preliminary investigation revealed two men were inside a Jeep Cherokee at the drive-thru window when Woods opened the rear door and attempted to get inside the vehicle. One of the occupants, a 29-year-old man, shot and killed Woods.

Officers arrested the occupant inside the jeep on the scene but no charges have been filed at this time.

Around 5:42 a.m. police responded to a shooting call on the 800-block of Sumter Street in the Berclair area. 

Police discovered a 49-year-old woman lying unresponsive on the couch with a gunshot wound. Ambulance made the scene and announced her deceased. 

Investigators unveiled the victim’s 53-year-old husband were in an argument that turned into a physical altercation and as a result she was shot and killed.

Police detained the husband on the scene and no charges have been filed for this incident as of now.

The homicides mentioned are still under investigation. Investigators are still searching for a suspect in the South Memphis shooting.
