MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - A Memphis mom is behind bars after she was caught using a stolen identity for health insurance to give birth.
On January 13, 2011, Jasmine Moore, now 22, was admitted at Baptist Women's Hospital under her ex-roommate's identity to give birth to her child. According to the police affidavit, the baby's father contacted the roommate to inform her that Moore was using her identity to claim health insurance benefits.
Moore later admitted to using her former roommate's identity to receive pre-natal care and give birth because she didn't have health insurance.
Jasmine Moore was charged with two counts of Identity Theft. She was booked at the Shelby County Jail on Thursday, July 26 on $5,000 bond, and is scheduled to appear in court July 30.
