MEMPHIS, TN (localmemphis.com) - Her name is synonymous with Memphis in May, but after 15 festivals, Diane Hampton is calling it quits.

Hampton announced Thursday, May 30, she's stepping down as Memphis in May Executive Vice President. She joined the organization in November 1998. Hampton tells localmemphis.com she's not sure what her future holds just yet, but she plans to continue to do something positive for Memphis.

Jim Holt, President and CEO of Memphis in May said: "Diane has been a cornerstone of our organization for the last decade and a half, since joining Memphis in May in November 1998. She played a pivotal role in the redevelopment of Memphis in May, helping the organization recover from a near bankruptcy in 1998 and early 1999, and from a poor public and media image. She has been a key part of our growth and success over the last 15 years and she will be sorely missed."

Hampton added, "I am grateful to have been a part of the success of Memphis in May and am proud of what this festival has accomplished. I will always have a special place in my heart for this great event!"
