MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - Fame and fortune doesn't mean you can get out of paying your tax bill. The owners of Mirimichi Golf Course, which includes Justin Timberlake, owed a quarter of a million dollars in delinquent property taxes. As soon as ABC 24 News starting asking questions, they paid up.

We don't know why Timberlake and the other owners of Mirimichi didn't pay the taxes for the golf course, but we do know that the Shelby County Trustee's Office has been trying to collect the money for almost two years.

Golfers will tell you its one of the nicest courses in Shelby County. With one of the most famous celebrities in the world as an owner, all of that fame doesn't mean you get to skip on your bills, especially your tax bill.

The course owners owed $249,470 in property taxes for the years 2011 and 2012. For almost a year and a half, every month employees from the county trustee's office have been trying to collect the cash. The account was considered delinquent.

"We've been in contact with them between direct contact from our collectors, between tax notices that were mailed out, and then we do what's called automated calls, those go out as well, so between all of that there's been regular contact," said Debra Gates, the Chief Administrative Officer for the Trustee's office. She says they were promised a partial payment in January, but it never arrived.

We went to Millington to the Mirimichi Golf Course looking for answers. It's no surprise Timberlake wasn't there, but neither was the general manager. Employees said they couldn't talk about Mirimichi business.

People who live around the course say if they pay their property tax bill, why can't Timberlake and the owners pay up? That said, one neighbor gave Timberlake the benefit of the doubt.

"He's just put out 20 new songs, I think he'd have more than enough money to pay taxes. Maybe he just doesn't know about it?"

After ABC 24 News showed up at the course, someone from Mirimichi went to the Trustee's office and wrote a check. The course manager informed us all accounts are now paid in full.
