BURLISON, TN (localmemphis.com) - With several law enforcement agencies searching all afternoon, a Tipton County man with serious medical conditions who went missing Friday morning has been found.

Cary Mims Ferguson, 58, was last seen walking his dog around 10:30 a.m. near his Burlison home in Tipton County. The Memphis Police Department and Tennessee Highway Patrol assisted the Tipton County Sheriff's Office with helicopter searches of the rural area.

Ferguson was found around 6 p.m. Rescue workers were able to walk him to a command center to be checked out by paramedics before he was transported to a nearby hospital.

Rescue crews credit Ferguson's chihuahua "Jinxy" as being the real hero. They say Ferguson had gotten trapped in deep, thick mud while walking along a creek bank, and the dog's barking led them to his location. Ferguson can no longer talk due to a bout with cancer.

As for his serious medical condition, Ferguson's roommate told Local 24 News that Ferguson had accidentally taken the wrong medicine and started acting erratically. When the roommate was unable to stop Ferguson from leaving, he called 911.
