SOMERVILLE, TN (localmemphis.com) - A couple in west Tennessee has been banned from owning any pets for the next 20 years.

The decision took place in a Somerville courtroom Monday after William Parr and his wife, Ricio Parr, were sentenced to six years of probation on guilty pleas to three counts of felony animal cruelty charges.

Last year, more than 100 animals were rescued from their former home in Moscow, Tennessee.

In addition to probation and the pet ban, the couple must also pay $50,000 in fines.

The court will set aside $18,000 to go towards a new animal shelter in Fayette County.
