Motion Filed to Simplify Upcoming Davis Trial

Southaven Mayor Greg Davis will face a judge sooner than expected.
SOUTHAVEN, MS (abc24.com) - Southaven Mayor Greg Davis will face a judge sooner than expected.

The embattled mayor was due back in a Jackson courtroom in May; instead, he'll be in court next week.

Davis is involved in a lawsuit with Mississippi State Auditor Stacey Pickering, who claims Davis owes more than $70,000 in repayments of city money he's accused of misspending.

The trial started at the end of January, but was continued to May 13. Davis is scheduled to appear in court ahead of trial with his attorney, who just filed a motion to narrow down the issues and simplify proceedings in May.

Meanwhile, Davis is running for re-election. DeSoto County's primary is May 7 with the General Election in June.
