MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - Six people are without homes and at least one arsonist is at large after three properties burned in South Memphis Monday night.
The Memphis Fire Department was called to the 1400-block of Oaklawn Street off South Parkway just after 10:00pm on January 30, 2012. Once firefighters got the fire under control at the vacant property, investigators determined the fire was intentionally set. No injuries were reported.
About an hour after the fire on Oaklawn Street was knocked down, firefighters were called to the 2800-block of Brewer Avenue near Semmes and Pendleton. There were no injuries, but the Red Cross was called to assist two adults and one child at the home. The fire was caused by faulty electrical wiring in the living room.
Around the corner from the Brewer Avenue fire, another fire was reported on the 1700-block of Southwall Street just before midnight. The fire also spread to an adjacent residence, but no injuries were reported. Two adults and one child required assistance from the Red Cross. It was determined that the fire was intentionally set in multiple locations.
Authorities have not stated if the fire on Oaklawn Street and Brewer Avenue are related.
